Copycat Honey Baked Ham means you never need to worry about running out to grab one at the store and never have to decide what to serve for holiday dinner! Just like you remember, this ham is meaty, succulent, and savory, with notes of sweet buttery richness and floral honey. Cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg enhance the pork flavor and add a welcome contrast to the depth of the ham. Copycat Honey Baked Ham is a perfect copy of the beloved dish, one that you and all your guests will appreciate as you carve into it!
Ingredients
- 8 pounds half ham, bone-in and spiral sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- allspice, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Trim the ham as needed.
Step 2 -Place the ham in a slow cooker.
Step 3 -Combine the butter and the honey in a bowl.
Step 4 -Massage the honey butter over the ham, getting in between the slices a little.
Step 5 -Cover and cook the ham on low until cooked through, about 4-5 hours.
Step 6 -Preheat the broiler to high.
Step 7 -Line a roasting pan with heavy duty aluminum foil.
Step 8 -Combine the sugar, the seasoned salt, the onion powder, the ground cinnamon, the ground nutmeg, the ground ginger, and the ground cloves, the paprika, and the allspice in a small bowl.
Step 9 -Pour 1/2 of the sugar mixture over the top of the ham.
Step 10 -Place the ham on the prepared roasting pan.
Step 11 -Broil the ham until bubbly and caramelized, about 4-5 minutes.
Step 12 -Transfer the ham from the oven. Leave the broiler on.
Step 13 -In a small saucepan, add the remaining sugar mixture.
Step 14 -Add 3 tablespoons of water or the ham juice from the bottom of the slow cooker.
Step 15 -Stir the mixture on the stove top over medium-high heat to a boil and cook for 1 minute.
Step 16 -Brush or pour the glaze over the ham.
Step 17 -Broil the ham until the sauce is caramelized, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 18 -Let the ham rest for 5-10 minutes.
Step 19 -Serve.
