About
From cheeseburgers to apple pie, there's some good grub to be found from sea to shining sea in the U.S.A. Homeland Pierogi Bake brings together a few of our favorites, like melty cheese, creamy mashed potatoes, and bouncy egg noodles to create a melting pot of flavors that even our Founding Fathers would be fond of. So, if you're craving something that'll make you feel proud to be an American, Homeland Pierogi Bake will always have your allegiance!

- fresh herbs, of your choice, to taste, chopped, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with the extra softened butter.
Step 3 -In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the egg noodles to al dente, according to the package directions.
Step 4 -Drain the water and rinse the cooked egg noodles under cold water until they have cooled.
Step 5 -In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter.
Step 6 -Add the onions to the melted butter and sauté, about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat.
Step 7 -Evenly spread 1/3 of the mashed potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, then layer with 1/3 of the cooked noodles, 1/3 of the sautéed onions, 1/3 of the American cheese, 1/3 of the cheddar cheese, and 2 tablespoons of the remaining butter.
Step 8 -Repeat the layers using 1/2 of the remaining mashed potatoes, 1/2 of the remaining cooked noodles, 1/2 of the remaining sautéed onions, 1/2 of the remaining American cheese, 1/2 of the remaining cheddar cheese, and 2 tablespoons of the remaining butter.
Step 9 -Add a final layer using the remaining mashed potatoes, the remaining cooked noodles, the remaining sautéed onions, the remaining American cheese, the remaining cheddar cheese, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of the butter, then cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
Step 10 -Bake the pierogi bake until the cheese is melted and begins to bubble, about 30 minutes.
Step 11 -Serve the pierogi bake garnished with the fresh herbs.
