Hey! Lazy Cheeseburger Packets aren't really lazy. They're just... energy efficient! They realized that skipping the bun saves you some time, and cooking everything in a foil packet ensures everything stays nice and tender after a trip on the grill! But the burger is savory, and the potatoes and carrots are soft and soaked in the beef drippings for extra flavor! Lazy Cheeseburger Packets might be the best no-stress way to make burgers!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef, 80% lean
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 small potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 (16-ounce) package baby carrots
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, plus more, to taste, for garnish
- 4 slices cheese, of your choice
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the grill to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a medium bowl, add the ground beef, the egg, the seasoning salt, and the garlic powder and using your clean hands, mix gently but thoroughly until well-combined.
Step 3 -Form the beef mixture into 4 patties and transfer them to a clean plate.
Step 4 -In a large bowl, add the potatoes, the baby carrots, the olive oil, the salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of the pepper, and stir to combine.
Step 5 -Coat four (12x18-inch) pieces of aluminum foil with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 6 -Add 1/4 of the vegetable mixture to each of the prepared pieces of foil.
Step 7 -Top the vegetable mixture on each piece of foil with 1 of the hamburger patties.
Step 8 -Seal the foil into packets.
Step 9 -Place the foil packets on the hot grill, hamburger-side up.
Step 10 -Grill the packets until the potatoes and carrots are tender and the patties reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F for medium doneness, about 25-35 minutes.
Step 11 -Open the top of each packet and add 1 slice of the cheese to each of the hamburger patties.
Step 12 -Close the grill cover and grill until the cheese has melted, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 13 -Serve garnished with the extra pepper.
