It's got no carbs to hold it down! There are no carbs here! No-Carb Turkey Tacos really do help you shed the pounds by shedding the carbohydrates, replacing the tortilla with a crispy lettuce wrap. Don't worry, the inside is still as zesty, spicy, and meaty as you could hope, just using lean turkey to help those pounds melt away. Watching your waistline has never been as fun as with No-Carb Turkey Tacos!
Ingredients
- For the tacos:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- iceberg or Romaine lettuce leaves, to taste, doubled up, for serving
- Optional toppings:
- Mexican cheese, to taste, shredded
- Roma tomatoes, to taste, diced
- red onion, to taste, diced
- avocado, to taste, diced
- cilantro, to taste, chopped
- light sour cream, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Heat the olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 2 -Add the onion to the oil and sauté it for 2 minutes.
Step 3 -Add the turkey and the garlic, seasoning them with the salt and the pepper, and cook, breaking up the turkey, until it is cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 4 -Add the chili powder, the cumin, the paprika, the tomato sauce, and the chicken broth to the turkey mixture.
Step 5 -Reduce the mixture to a simmer and cook until the sauce has reduced, about 5 minutes.
Step 6 -Serve the turkey mixture over the lettuce leaves with the cheese, the tomatoes, the red onion, the avocado, the cilantro, and the sour cream.
